A Message from Artistic Director Allen MacInnis
Live and in person!
These days there’s a great deal of discussion about kids getting more active and getting away from screens. It’s as important for young people as it is for adults. YPT’s Summer Drama Camps are all about engaged imaginations and energetic bodies. Instead of watching passively, our participants are up on their feet actively telling stories they have devised together. It’s creative, social, face-to-face AND physical. Not to mention, it’s FUN!
A Message from Drama School Director Liz Pounsett
YPT’s Summer Drama Camps focus on engaging participants through the active process of creating theatre. Over the course of each session, young people give voice and physical form to their imaginations, develop fundamental theatre skills and work toward collaboratively creating a performance based on the ideas of the group. Participants then put their skills together with lights, props, costumes, sound and set pieces and perform on the Mainstage of our historic theatre for family and friends.
Our teachers have extensive backgrounds in professional theatre and education and are skilled at creating programs that nurture self-expression and self-confidence while also ensuring that everyone has fun!
