The Junior Ensemble | Grades 7-8
PROGRAM DESCRIPTION
The Drama School Junior Ensemble is for students Grade 7-8 with some background in theatre who seek a more intensive and specialized experience. The program will include advanced instruction in a variety of acting methods with a focus on developing performance skills and a creative voice. Students will work towards the development and workshop presentation of an original theatre piece created by The Junior Ensemble.
The ideal candidate has taken several drama classes. S/he has creative skills apart from acting. S/he is able to work collaboratively in a group.
The Junior Ensemble is a collective creation, and is dependant upon everyone being present and actively contributing at all times. Please confirm with your parents and caregivers, before applying, that you can commit to every day of rehearsal and performance.
Audition and Interview
Entrance into The Junior Ensemble is by audition and interview only. Students are asked to memorize and present a piece of their own writing. This original piece, ideally in first person, can be a one minute monologue, poem or piece of writing of your choice.
Students may be asked to adapt their piece. Please wear comfortable clothing and shoes that allow you to move freely.
