Summer Drama Camp
BEGINS JULY 2nd 2013
We are eager for you to join us for our enormously popular summer drama camps. Our faculty members combine their professional experience in the theatre with an extensive background in education. Since 1969, highly regarded theatre artists and educators have taught at YPT. Our extremely high standards of teaching are reflected in the transformative experience of our campers.
YPT’s Summer Drama Camps provide an opportunity for young people to explore their creative voice while making friendships that can last a lifetime. Our two-week day camps immerse participants in the theatrical process. They learn and refine their basic theatre and story-building skills in the first week. During this time they are also developing as a cohesive and trusting group. In the second week the focus shifts to putting the group-created story on stage. Finally they have an opportunity to “tech” their show - to rehearse with added technical elements of light and sound. The last Friday evening of the session every participant, aged seven and up, performs the new creation they have developed on our historic Mainstage for friends and family.
This carefully structured and unique artistic process stimulates young imaginations while inspiring selfexpression and self-confidence. And, above all, everyone is having loads of fun!
