Family Day Workshops & Activities
February 19 @ 11:00 am - 4:30 pm
Family Day Programming at YPT
On Family Day, Monday, February 19, YPT will be a hive of activity from top to bottom floors, with a performance of the children’s classic The Secret Garden, two performances of the award-winning show for babies, One Thing Leads to Another — PLUS Family Workshops, FREE tours and drop-in activities! Here’s the rundown:
- In the Studio at 11AM & 2PM: One Thing Leads to Another (for ages 3-24 months; Feb. 17-Mar. 3)
A Collective Collaboration by Maja Ardal, Audrey Dwyer, Mary Francis Moore and Julia Tribe
Developed from the original concept, research and theme by Maja Ardal; Directed by Mary Francis Moore.
Observe your littlest play-goer experiencing everyday objects as they transform into fabulous, theatrical phenomena. Tickets: $5-$20 per person.
- In the Classroom from 12PM-1PM or 1:15PM-2:15PM: Family Workshops (for ages 6 & up)
Family Workshop participants will learn about the story of The Secret Garden and work together to explore the power of play and imagination! As with all of our Family Workshops, parents and caregivers are invited to play and create alongside the younger participants. Fee: $5 per person; pre-registration required as space is limited.
- In the Lobbies & Shops from 1PM-2:15PM: Drop-In Activities (for ages 6 & up)
Families can join in a craft activity connected to The Secret Garden; enjoy behind-the-scenes tours of the prop, set and carpentry workshops; and participate in a scavenger hunt! FREE of charge with ticket purchase.
- On the Mainstage at 2:30PM: The Secret Garden (for ages 6 & up; Feb. 5-Mar. 17)
By Paul Ledoux, adapted from the novel by Frances Hodgson Burnett; Directed by Allen MacInnis.
Gardens, like people, need sustenance and attention in order to thrive. In this beloved classic, Mary Lennox is sent from India to live with her uncle in Yorkshire. Left to wander his gloomy old manor, Mary lashes out at those around her. Then … she discovers a mysterious hidden garden. In taking refuge there, Mary uncovers secrets that, like her, need to be brought into the sunshine. Tickets: $25-$41
