Workshops & Tours

Family workshops are pre- or post-show one-hour workshops offered in connection with YPT’s public performances throughout the season. They provide an opportunity for families attending a play to creatively engage with the themes of our production while having the unique experience of participating in a drama workshop together. The workshops are offered for free or at a minimal cost.

Some of the workshops we offer:

  • Mask-making
  • Improv
  • Storytelling
  • Play Writing
  • Shakespeare
  • Stage Combat
  • Community Building
  • Voice
  • Movement
  • Street Theatre

Themes we can explore together:

  • Conflict Resolution & Peace Building
  • Advocacy
  • Anti-Bullying
  • Leadership
  • Civic Engagement
  • Social Justice & Change

Led by various YPT staff members, we offer “Tours for a Toonie”, a behind-the-scenes look at what it takes to mount a production. Participants are led though our shops (Props, Wardrobe, and Scene shop), through the lighting and sound booth and occasionally backstage. They are given a history of the building and YPT.
