Vanessa is returning to YPT after playing Dorothy in The Wizard of Oz (Dora Award for Outstanding Ensemble) and she’s thrilled to be back in Toronto for the holidays. For the past two years Vanessa has performed at The Shaw Festival, most recently starring as Polly in The Magician’s Nephew and Flaemmchen in Grand Hotel. The season previous, she played the titular role in An Octoroon and appeared in Me and My Girl. Her other selected credits include Narrator in Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat (Theatre Aquarius); Passing Strange (Obsidian Theatre Company/The Musical Stage Company, Toronto Theatre Critics Award for Best Supporting Actress); Million Dollar Quartet (Citadel); Lorraine in All Shook Up (Drayton Entertainment); and Nicola in the Canadian premiere of Kinky Boots (Mirvish, BroadwayWorld Best Female in a Featured Role). Vanessa graduated with high honours from Sheridan College where she got to help create the world of Brantwood (Dora Audience Choice Award) as well as play Nina in In the Heights, Minnie McKnight in Parade (Theatre Sheridan) and Moll in Moll (Canadian Music Theatre Project). Vanessa’s film/TV credits include We Could Be Friends, Suits, The Beaverton, and CANAdooDAday.
